Please contribute to this quick multiple choice survey which shoud only take 2 or 3 minutes of your time. The data collected will be anonymised and will help inform the committee's support and resources it can provide to members.

Listen to - Netzero in practice: on the path to sustainability Podcast.  Part of the "Landmark Talks Property" series:

Discover how two law firms, Wollens and Cartridges Law are transforming their practices to become more sustainable. From energy-saving wins to inclusive green teams, this episode is packed with practical advice and inspiring stories for any legal professional looking to make a difference.

Our Aims

I have been a member and Chair of the Sustainability Committee since it was formed in December 2020. Our team comprises of representatives from multiple law firms across the region, united in our mission to integrate sustainability into our business practices and all finding our feet in what can feel like a minefield of sometimes conflicting information.

While individual businesses can take numerous actions within their sphere of influence and can make a difference, we hope and expect that by coming together to share knowledge, contacts and experiences, we can make a much more significant impact.  Our primary focus was initially to educate ourselves on the practical steps we can take as firms and we have been lucky enough to attract some really knowledgeable speakers and leaders in their field.  We now want to help set a clear trajectory for our collective efforts, helping firms to enhance carbon literacy among staff, to raise workplace awareness and consider conducting carbon reports now, anticipating future requirements. The more we measure, the more we discover!

The group has been wonderfully generous in sharing information about different firms’ experiences in their efforts to reach net zero, which has been a huge help as we are most definitely all at different stages in our journey to more sustainable business practices.  Our conference last year, an event which we hope to repeat in 2025, was well attended and received and we all went away with new ideas to try out.  For firms like ours with multi-branch structures and leased premises, it can be a challenge to see where we can make a difference, but events like these really help to inject a bit of can-do spirit to take back to the office.

If you are interested in joining us in our pursuit of a sustainable and resilient future, there are many ways to contribute.  Just get in touch:  kelly@dasls.com
