TERMS OF THE RESOLUTION PASSED BY THE COMMITTEE AT ITS MEETING ON 27 NOVEMBER 2012 RESOLUTION IN RESPECT OF STUDENT MEMBERSHIP OF DASLS FOR LAW UNDERGRADUATES On 27th November 2012, the full Committee of the Society passed a resolution as follows: “The Committee has for some time been concerned that there is very little connection between the local legal profession and the universities. “To foster such relationship, it has been suggested that a mechanism should be devised to facilitate involvement of law students at the undergraduate level in the Society. “This would be open to those UK, EU and International students who have successfully enrolled on any LLB programme that includes law at the universities of Exeter, Plymouth and the West of England. “The constitution of the Society reserves membership of the Society to admitted solicitors and thus it is proposed that law students, nominated by a senior member of the School of Law staff and accepted by the Committee of the Society may enjoy student membership of the Society. “Law student members of DASLS will be permitted to attend any meeting of the Society, its Committee and Sub-Committees and the AGM as an observer, and at the discretion of the Chair to speak, save if any confidential or sensitive matter is to be discussed. “Law student members of DASLS will not pay any subscription to the Society and will only be eligible to be such members during the currency of their law undergraduate degree.
