Speaker: Stephen Allinson - Solicitor and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner.

 

Stephen has specialised in credit, debt, restructuring and insolvency work since 1987, and has extensive experience in dealing with the full range of these procedures.  Prior to setting up his own consultancy, he was a Business Recovery and Insolvency partner at a major law firm heading up a team of over 50 legal professionals undertaking national debt and insolvency contracts in both the private and public sectors. As well as acting as a Consultant to the legal profession, he also pursues many other projects in the legal, insolvency and credit fields and is a Tutor at the University of Law.

 

Alongside being a Solicitor Licensed Insolvency Practitioner, he has previously been an Associate Member of the Association of Property and Fixed Charge Receivers. Stephen was appointed Chairman of the Board  of The Insolvency Service in January 2017 and is also the Chairman of the Joint Insolvency Examination Board (JIEB); one of the Chairmen of the Methodist Church Disciplinary Process and formerly the  Deputy Independent Examiner for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

 

In addition, he is currently the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management Assessment Board and a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives Education and Standards Board. He has also served as a Trustee of The Money Charity and the Churches Mutual Credit Union.

 

His major book “Enforcement of a Judgment “was published by Sweet and Maxwell in January 2016, and he has in the last twelve months contributed to two leading educational publications in the areas of business and commercial property law for students and legal professionals, and also been involved in two leading practical insolvency texts for practitioners in both the corporate and personal insolvency arenas.

 

In 2019 he became a consultant to and key member of a brand new litigation funding company, Apex Litigation Funding which aims to broaden the scope of that industry and develop new cutting edge models to assist both lawyers and insolvency practitioners.
