Speaker: Keith Markham SRA Competence B, D   This course has been completely updated to take into account recent developments in respect of both the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 with particular emphasis on how Brexit will affect this area of practice. Delivered by a highly experienced presenter, and using a variety of case studies, delegates will leave the session better informed and equipped to deal with this ever-evolving area of practice. The implications of Covid-19 will be discussed where appropriate.   Topics will include:   Brexit and data protection - what will happen at the end of the transition period? Speaker: Keith Markham SRA Competence B   Completely updated for 2020, this course is designed with the busy practitioner in mind so that you can stay up to date with recent developments without having to trawl through endless case reports. There will be a summary of key recent cases with an emphasis on reviewing case studies and drawing out a series of practical steps to be borne in mind for future use.  The implications of Covid-19 will be discussed where appropriate.   Topics will include: Contract formation – can you make a contract for the sale of land via exchange of e-mails signed electronically? Implied terms – application of the business efficacy and officious bystander tests in recent case law Good faith – ‘relational contracts’ or implied terms tests – which is more important? Force majeure – the importance of causation and foreseeability Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 – does every document need to have the exclusion? Variation of contract – can estoppel apply where a variation would otherwise be invalid? Liquidated damages – what is an acceptable rate of interest?
